  • No Rules
  • Add more raw into your life
  • Do what works for you

A good way to begin the transitioning process is to start with Breakfast, which is actually “breaking the fast” from not eating since the night before.  If you have ever done a fast, with juice, water or certain foods, you may be aware that it is necessary to break the fast gently so as not to undo all the benefits of the fast.  The body, like everything else in life is cyclical and goes through a healing and rejuvenation cycle while we sleep and continues on through the morning.  The less the digestive system has to work to process the breakfast consumed, the more cell rebuilding and healing can take place.

What should I eat?

  • Fruit
  • Green smoothies
  • Fresh vegetable or fruit juices

If you are not dealing with cancer, diabetes or pancreatic challenges, fruit is an excellent way to begin.  Fruit should always be eaten by itself.  It digests very quickly in 20-30 minutes and when eaten with other foods, can sit in the digestive track and ferment or putrefy causing gas, bloating and poor digestion. Eat fruit alone and have a huge bowl of it.  Eat enough that you are satisfied.  Watermelon digests very quickly and should not be eaten with other fruits. It is an excellent fruit and is a kidney purifier.  Strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries are full of antioxidants and are a delightful breakfast. Eat what you enjoy!

If you are wanting to detox and give your system a rest, try avoiding  sweet fruits like bananas, grapes, papaya and all dried fruit or at least eat them in moderation.
The Green Smoothie is – yes Green, but it is so refreshing to the taste buds and good for your body.  A good basic smoothie to begin consists of:

  • 2 large handfuls of organic baby spinach
  • 2 large handfuls of organic spring mix or 2-3 large organic romaine leaves
  • 1 frozen organic banana
  • 1 peach or nectarine or 6 strawberries or whatever organic fruit you enjoy  or have on hand.
  • 2 1/2 – 3 cups of water

Place all ingredients in a good blender and puree until smooth and creamy.  Add more or less of any of the ingredients to adjust to your taste. Smoothies are best if consumed the same day, but will be good for 2-3 days if you choose to make extra to drink another day.  Drink 20-32 ounces daily and enjoy the benefits of whole, live plant foods.
